Where possible, TOPY employ a light weight design to all wheel and rim applications. This allows the wheel to flex with the tyre when in operation, reducing the chances of premature failure of the wheel and/or tyre. 

This light weight design has some other added benefits.  Equipment running costs are reduced significantly, with fuel consumption being cut as well as extending the life of suspensions, bearings, breaks and tires. In order to obtain the desired strength and structural integrity needed in today’s rims, TOPY runs a series of analyses and tests, including;

• Collection of extensive performance data from mines worldwide
• Loaded field testing with the rim fitted to the equipment
• Measurement and analysis of the stress produced at various areas of the rim under a given load.
• Use of finite element analysis method.
• Simulation model testing of rims at various points for a given load.

The results of this analysis and testing are then fed back to determine the ideal configuration and distribution of steel where it’s most needed.

To maximise quality, TOPY pays special attention to the area of material control, dimensional accuracy, consistent quality of welding, and smooth finishing of machined surfaces.Quality control techniques include regular auditing of the steel mill, dimensional checking, ultrasonic and x-ray testing and machining of stress conscious areas. “Total Preventative Maintenance” and “Quality Management” systems are practiced throughout the production and administration of the company to ensure that customers receive the highest quality products.
